Signal Hill Products is first to utilize groundbreaking cider tech
Raslysation is the newest cider tech and on October 29, 2024, it made waves as a groundbreaking shift in cider-making was set in motion. Here Signal Hill Products started cider production using Raslysation to reduce energy usage by >70%, increase production capacity and enhance product quality.
Brew Master, Craig Groenveld, realized that there was great potential for optimization of the current method of cider production. Presenting the idea of using raslysation, to Signal Hill Products sparked their interest, and their truly innovative and ambitious spirit spurred them to implement it in their production.
Signal Hill Products recognized the energy inefficiencies in traditional heating methods, which often require heating cider must only to then cool it down for fermentation. In response, they made the decision to replace thermal energy with UVC light treatment, dramatically reducing energy consumption and environmental impact—an exemplary move for the cider industry in terms of sustainability.
Implementation of the new cider tech was done by High-Tech Processing. They utilized their wast industry knowledge to support the implementation of raslysation, ensuring seemless integration and adoption by cider makers.
With this groundbreaking partnership, the future of cider production in South Africa—and the world—has been transformed, blending technological innovation with a commitment to reducing carbon emissions. As the industry looks toward more sustainable practices, this move could very well signal a new era in cider-making, one powered by light rather than heat.
