The future of sustainable pasteurization is raslysation™

A Trusted Method gray 2023

A trusted method

The natural anti-bacterial properties of UV light have been known for more than 100 years. For this period, the technique has been widely used for disinfecting transparent liquids such as drinking and processing water. The inventor of the raslysation technique found, however, that UV is also capable of treating opaque liquids such as whey, brine, and juice.

Food processing up until today

In 1864, the French chemist Louis Pasteur developed a method for preserving liquid foods by heating them up and cooling them down in rapid succession – a process that later became known as pasteurization.

Today, almost all liquid food products are pasteurized, including milk, cheese, juice, soda, and plant-based drinks. For that reason, pasteurization is an inevitable part of the consumers’ everyday life, though only a minority is aware of it.

Though at the time revolutionary, conventional heat pasteurization is not without downsides. It is a time-consuming process that lowers product quality while consuming vast amounts of energy in the heating and cooling processes.

Bringing pasteurization into the 21st century

Raslysation is a processing technology for treatment of a vast array of liquids. The technology works by combining a turbulent flow pattern with ultraviolet light sources to eliminate unwanted microorganisms in liquids to extend shelf life of the final product.

Like pasteurization, the intention of raslysation is to inactivate microorganisms that contribute to spoilage or risk of disease. Despite similarities, however, raslysation is far less resource-intensive than its predecessor and saves 60-90% of the energy consumption and 60-80% of the water consumption used in pasteurization.

The raslysation technology is a stand-alone unit with PLC, HMI and MCC panels and a feed unit. This makes it a versatile system easily implemented into any production line. Furthermore, the sanitary system is designed for maximized food safety e.g., with no glass-food contact.

Benefits using raslysation

Energy efficient

Energy Efficient

Reducing energy consumption by 60-90%, raslysation is a sustainable and cost-efficient replacement for pasteurization.

Extended Shelf life

Extended Shelf life

Raslysation offers a highly effective bacteria treatment, ensuring an extended shelf life.

Higher quality

Higher Quality

The gentle raslysation treatment ensures the natural taste, preserves a high level of vitamins, and does not affect or denature proteins.

Higher Up time

Higher Uptime

Being largely self-disinfectant and a non-thermal treatment, raslysation reduces the need for cleaning and maintenance, ensuring your production a longer uptime.

No fossil fuels

Full Electrification

Since raslysation only uses electricity to treat the product, it paves the way for a production relying solely on renewable energy.

Safety

Minimal Waste

Our raslysation system has a significantly lower holding volume than a pasteurizer, wasting less product in each production cycle.

Simpler production

Simple Production

The compact design of the raslysation system achieves unprecedented energy efficiency and simplifies the supporting infrastructures.
