Lyras and the Polish dairy company SM Mazowsze have a partnership built on innovation and trust
At Lyras, we are proud to continue our collaboration with Mazowsze in Chorzele, Poland, supporting their transition toward more energy-efficient cheese production.
This partnership is not new. Our colleague Poul Knudsen lived in Chorzele for 1.5 years, leading the startup of the first ultra-filtered feta cheese production in Poland in 1991 and contributing to the dairy´s modernization projects in 2021. He is once again involved as SM Mazowsze takes its next big step by implementing the Raslysation™ technology in 2025. That is more than 30 years of shared innovation and trust.
Since its beginnings in 1966 as the SM Mazowsze, the dairy has grown from processing 40,000 liters of milk per day to over 150 million liters annually, supplied by more than 1,100 local milk producers.
Throughout the years, the plant has continued to invest in technology and modernization:
1991: Launch of feta and cheddar cheese production (20 tons/day)
1993: Expansion with a Dutch-type cheese line (20 tons/day)
2021: Further modernization with a new Dutch-type cheese line (17 tons/day)
2025: Installation of the Raslysation™ Spica system, a milestone for energy efficiency and microbial control in brine
A Major Step Toward Sustainable Cheese Production
By replacing traditional heat pasteurization with Raslysation™ Spica, SM Mazowsze is reducing energy use, cutting CO₂ emissions, and saving water, all while maintaining the same high standards for product quality and safety, which is so important to them.
At Lyras, we are honored to help shape the next chapter of SM Mazowsze’s innovation journey, combining decades of craftsmanship with the sustainable technology of tomorrow.
We believe in applauding dairies such as the Polish SM Mazowsze for their strong commitment to bringing innovation into a traditional industry.
