Microbes create sustainable proteins for the future of food

We are proud to be part of the UPCYFUN project, supported by Innovationsfonden (Innovation Fund Denmark). Together with our project partners, we are working on upcycling biostreams into production media, essentially, food for microbes and developing microbial strains that can utilize these media efficiently.

Our shared mission is to transform the global food system without compromising on taste or nutrition. These innovations aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, free up farmland, and strengthen global food security.

By harnessing the technology and expertise from Denmark’s biotech and pharma industries, UPCYFUN is paving the way for a new fermentation industry based on sustainable production inputs.

At Lyras, we find this project particularly exciting as industrial fermentation is a core focus area for us. We are contributing with testing equipment and research expertise from our dedicated team.
