Opacity has previously been the challenge of using UV light in liquid treatment as the light has not been able to penetrate opaque liquids. This factor poses a challenge because, for it to be effective, all bacteria in the liquid must be illuminated by UV light. Therefore, a product with low transparency, such as milk, is harder to treat than, for example, water.
We at Lyras have solved this challenge with our patented system – the Raslysation™ Sirius. The unique design geometry of the flagship creates a turbulent flow to ensure that the entire volume of liquid is exposed to UV light. This technique solves the challenge of UV treatment and constitutes a greener, more energy-efficient processing method.
With the raslysation technique, Lyras can treat various products with different viscosity and transparency levels, such as whey, brine, juice, mixers, process water etc.
